The best food and drink events in Kansas City this weekend: April 15-17

Ancient Grain Sourdough Pancakes

Head to Black Jack Battlefield & Nature Park this weekend to try maple syrup tapped from the park's trees.

Try maple syrup tapped from a local park, celebrate a new beer garden or enjoy cookies with the Easter Bunny this weekend.

Flapjacks at Black Jack’s

Join us for a pancake breakfast to celebrate our first annual rendering of Black Jack maple syrup! Enjoy syrup produced from the historic maple grove at Black Jack Battlefield. Pancakes will be prepared and served by our board members! Suggested donation $10. From 10am to noon.

JAM Session: Fruit and Veggie Cars

Inspired by a pair of JAM students, we are going to figure out how to make some common fruits and vegetables move on wheels! We will be trying out some different types (including bananas, carrots, potatoes and cucumbers) to see which ones work best. Just as with a more traditional car design, you have to think like an engineer and consider what makes for a good vehicle. How much does the object weigh overall? Is one end heavier than the other? Is it aerodynamic? What are the wheels made of? With so many types of fruits and vegetables to work with, there are a lot of things to think about when trying to make your food move. Tickets $5. Starts at 10:15am.

Beer Garden Grand Opening at Border Brewing Company

Join us at Border Brewing Company to celebrate the grand opening of our new beer garden! The newly renovated 1,300-square-foot backyard features ample seating, a stage and beautiful tree coverage. Free live music from The MGDs will begin at 6pm.

Cookies with the Easter Bunny at Scola’s Italian Cookies

To celebrate Easter, we are hosting Cookies with the Easter Bunny! The Easter Bunny will be giving away a free cookie to every kid that attends! Come by and take a pic with the Easter Bunny and grab a cookie! From 2 to 6pm.

Big Vino Grand Opening at Z&M Twisted Vineyard

Come celebrate the opening of our new 15,000 square foot building on the Z&M Twisted Vineyard. Big Vino will be home to our new tasting room, wine and cider production and agricultural hangar room. Free admission. From 3 to 9pm.

Easter Mixology Brunch Piano-Sing-A-Long

This event will be full of laughs, libations and luxurious dishes made from our very own local breakfast master, The Waffle Iron, Sam. Join us as we teach you 4 cocktails amidst a delicious meal and piano tunes from our one and only Ben The Piano Man. Tickets $75. From 11am to 1pm.
