Marcoot Jersey Creamery's 10th annual CheeseFest is still on for this weekend, but the festival will look a little different this year: All visitors will be staying in their car.
The Greenville, Illinois, creamery plans to host its annual cheese festival on Sat., June 6 from 10am to 2pm. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this year's festival will be dubbed "The One Where We Stayed in Our Cars" and will be styled as a drive-thru event. The free and public fest will feature much of what visitors love, just done a little differently. Like previous years, the Cheesefest will include fan favorite foods like grilled cheese and fried cheese curds and offer cheese packages available for purchase. Of course, families will be able to see the famous Jersey cows and a calf – just from the comfort of their vehicles.
"We have definitely had a lot of excitement around the fact that we're still having it," says Amy Marcoot, the creamery's president. "I think people are really looking for something to get out, and we feel like it's possible to do this in a way and still have people feel really safe."

Marcoot says that the marketing team checked with her and the rest of the Marcoot family making sure that they could – and were willing to – pull off this adjusted event in such a short period of time.
You can also pet baby calves and watch the cheesemaking process.
"My response to them was 'I think we need this just as much as everybody else,'" she says.
Visitors will have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the creamery via radio while driving around the pastures, see all types of animals and even participate in a drive-thru photo booth. Activity sheets will also be available for kids upon arrival.
"We just want to provide something that's exciting and fun, and something we can look forward to and hopefully other people can as well," Marcoot says.
