Feast, an award-winning regional magazine, is seeking a production/graphic designer to be based in St. Louis, Missouri. The ideal candidate will understand national trends and standards in editorial design, have a passion for the publishing industry, an understanding of brand building and effective marketing and the desire to be part of a dynamic, growing publication.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The production designer will work directly with Feast's art director, special projects coordinator, marketing and events teams. This position creates and produces special advertising sections in the magazine, display ads for print and digital outlets, marketing materials event campaigns, and other collateral for advertising. They are also responsible for a number of photography needs including basic product photography/editing for the magazine and on-site breaking news photography for online. They will also assist the art director with various parts of the print magazine, and the editor-in-chief with various website and social media projects, as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field and at least two years of direct experience in graphic design OR four years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience in print and digital design with an emphasis on advertising and marketing design
- Experience in magazine design and production
- Mastery of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to design toward and support a brand identity
- A high level of creativity and concept building as well as a keen eye for detail
- Ability to juggle many tasks at once and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work within a CMS
- Basic understanding of and experience in photography
