PerJax Americana Kitchen, the New Orleans-inspired restaurant from Steve Cupp (the longtime owner of Glenn's Cafe in Columbia), announced today it is closing its doors.
Restaurant manager Karri Grotemat announced the news on Nextdoor, a community social networking website.
"It is with sadness that I am announcing the closing of PerJax," she wrote. "We have throughly [sic] enjoyed getting to know those that live in the neighborhood and have supported us. You will be missed! Thank you for the support you showed us!"
PerJax, which is named after its location at the corner of Pershing (Per) and Jackson (Jax), quietly opened in mid-May in University City. It served familiar items from Glenn's including the Pastalaya, which features andouille sausage, tasso and penne in a spicy seafood/demi glace reduction. Other items included a Green Goddess salad and a hot-spinach artichoke dip served with wonton chips.
Cupp was not immediately available for comment.
