DeMun cornerstone Jimmy's on the Park has closed its doors after 21 years.
In an interview with St. Louis Magazine, owner Jimmy Kristo cited slow sales and a rent increase as reasons for the closure. The restaurant, which overlooks Concordia Seminary, was especially known for its signature "pasta crunchers" (strands of seasoned and deep-fried fettuccine) and its Sunday jazz brunch (one of our 10 favorite brunches in St. Louis). Its last day of service was Sun., Jan. 3.
Kristo wrote the following on the Jimmy's website:
"I Am Sad To Announce That After 21 Years Jimmy's On The Park Café Bistro Bar Has Closed Effective January 4, 2016. To All Our Valued Clients And Friends I Thank You For Your Support Over The Past Twenty One Years. To The Hundreds Of Employees That I Have Had The Privilege Working Along Side I Thank You For Your Hard Work And Dedication And I Wish You The Best."
The post also notes that anyone who has recently purchased a gift certificate can send a self-addressed stamped envelope with the certificate to the restaurant for a refund.
