Fans of Medina Mediterranean Grill’s garlicky chicken shawarma and crispy falafel are in luck: This fall, the local fast-casual restaurant will open its third outpost in St. Louis City.

The new location at 3325 Olive St. in Midtown follows the flagship in Downtown St. Louis, which opened in 2015, and the Central West End location that opened in 2018. Owner Ibrahim Ead says Midtown made perfect sense for his business, as it’s almost halfway between both locations and can take on more catering orders.

“This one is a little bit different,” Ead says. “It would be easier to do catering if we could find a spot in between both of our restaurants to do more catering and deliveries. We want to deliver to [Saint Louis University], and we’ll probably do all of our catering there. The Downtown location kitchen is really small and it’s pretty busy, so it’s hard to keep up with catering without being all over each other. We needed more space, and we thought we had that in the Central West End, but we still have so many orders there now that it just doesn’t make sense to push everything that far out.”

Ead adds that the Midtown location will have a parking lot for customers, something currently lacking at the other two restaurants.

“There’s a lot of students who come from SLU who say, ‘You don’t have parking?’” Ead says with a laugh. “We didn’t know so many students would come, but why not be closer to SLU?”

Other than an expanded kitchen and parking, guests can expect the same menu items they’ve come to love at Medina, offered with the same quick and friendly service.

“Time is valuable,” Ead says. “A lot of people come on their lunch break, eat and have to go back to work. Overall the response from people has been great, which is good, because the people who aren’t familiar with Mediterranean are always super happy.”
