Russell's is switching things up at its Southampton location.
The beloved neighborhood bakery and restaurant is transitioning to dinner-only service, along with brunch on the weekends. Russell's on Macklind will now be open Wednesday through Sunday (the Fenton and Chesterfield locations will be keeping their same hours).
The change in service comes just a few months after sister concept Lola Jean's Giveback Coffee, located just down the block, launched a full breakfast and lunch menu. Russell's will now expand its brunch and dinner menus to include new dishes like the Itaska Salad (with mixed greens and baby spinach, shallot, carrot ribbons, dried cherries, toasted walnuts, black olive, white Cheddar, croutons and Balsamic vinaigrette) and crab cakes served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, lemon-garlic aïoli, pickled pepper and red cabbage.
Regulars will be relieved to know that favorites like the bacon-wrapped meatloaf, cider-brined pork chop and cheese puffs will remain on the menu, and other dishes like the ricotta gnudi and roasted chicken will be slightly reimagined.
"We love our Macklind community, and the support that we’ve received since opening this Russell’s location six years ago," owner Russell Ping said in a release. "Dinner has steadily increased at Macklind, and our sister café, Lola Jean’s Giveback Coffee, now serves breakfast and lunch down the street, so we saw this as a great opportunity to shift daytime lunch focus to Lola Jean’s. It also gives our Russell’s team an important opportunity to breathe. We will now be able to balance the scale of work, and we’re excited to explore what creativity comes from that for our happy hour, dinner and brunch menus at Macklind."
To that end, Russell's is also expanding its happy hour, offered Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 6pm. Alongside $4 draft beers, sangria, house wine by the glass and the Float Trip cocktail (made with house lemonade, Tito's vodka and a lager float), guests can enjoy more bar bites like a meatloaf sandwich and smoked wings.
Russell's on Macklind will now be open for dinner Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 9pm and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10pm. Brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 3pm, and happy hour is offered Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 6pm. The restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday.
