Next weekend, St. Louis beer-drinkers can raise a glass to women in the industry.

Third Wheel Brewing plans to host the first Biére De Femme festival in the St. Louis area inside its St. Peters, Missouri, taproom on Sat., July 13. The annual festival has been held in North Carolina for the past three years, and this marks the first time it's being held in the Midwest.

Like the original festival, Third Wheel's Biére De Femme will support the Pink Boots Society, a national organization for professional women in brewing, with 100 percent of proceeds going to the group. Each participating brewery will bring two beers: one signature beer and one brewed specifically for the festival by women in the local industry.

Participating St. Louis breweries include 2nd Shift Brewing, Anheuser-Busch Brewery (as well as its research pilot brewery), Earthbound Beer, Missouri Beer Co., Old Bakery Beer Co., Rockwell Beer Co., Schlafly Beer, Six Mile Bridge Beer, Third Wheel Brewing, Two Plumbers Brewery + Arcade and Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. Two Kansas City breweries will also be in attendance: Crane Brewing Co. and Double Shift Brewing Co.

"What we’re really pumped about is that all participants are going to get to try at minimum 13 to 14 different beers that are brewed specifically for the festival," Third Wheel head brewer Abbey Spencer says. "They’ll get to try some really cool new beers made in collaboration with some of the women in the Midwest beer industry."

In addition to the beer tasting, the festival will also feature educational and sensory opportunities from groups including The OG, a women's homebrewing group, and Yakima Chief Hops, a global supplier of hops. "YCH is bringing two IPAs made with the same hops, but one was made with regular T-90 hops and one was made with cryo hops, so that’s pretty cool," Spencer says. "You’ll get to taste, side by side, pretty much the same beer, but each contains hops produced in a different way."

Biére De Femme will take place Sat., July 13 from 1-5 p.m. at Third Wheel Brewing in St. Peters, Missouri. Tickets are $35, available here.
