Mac's Local Eats is closing up shop in Dogtown.
Owner Chris McKenzie has announced that the restaurant will be closing its walk-up window located inside Tamm Avenue Bar, effective Aug. 31. Mac's Local Buys, the adjacent retail space stocking local food-and-drink products, will also close its doors.
The restaurant is known for its smashed burgers.
"Mac's Local Eats/Mac's Local Buys and Tamm have decided it's in the best interest of all parties to move forward in different directions," McKenzie said in a statement. "We look forward to our new opportunities at Bluewood Brewing Company. And we thank Tamm Avenue Bar for the opportunity to serve their patrons."
But fans need of Mac's critically acclaimed smashed burgers need not despair. Last month, McKenzie announced plans to open a location inside Bluewood Brewing on Cherokee Street.
The new location will serve a similar menu to the original Mac's outpost inside Tamm, including smashed burgers made with high-quality local beef and the famous Rip Fries, dusted in Red Hot Riplets seasoning. A grand opening for both Mac's Local Eats and Bluewood Brewing is planned for later this summer.
