Through the end of October, four St. Louis chefs are battling for burger supremacy at Baileys' Range. To celebrate the restaurant's eighth anniversary, the downtown burger joint is hosting a Burger Battle for the ages.
Rick Lewis of Grace Meat & 3, Qui Tran of Nudo House, Jason Tilford of Mission Taco Joint and Loryn Nalic of Balkan Treat Box have created burgers inspired by their restaurants that will all be available at Baileys' until Oct. 31.
Lewis' creation features fried chicken topped with Crystal mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and cheese sauce. Tran's burger is seasoned with secret spices – "he won't even tell me what's in it," Dave Bailey jokes – and served with Sriracha mayo, hoisin catsup, onion and tomato. Tilford's burger is a taco-seasoned Match burger with chipotle mayo, taco sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion that can be vegan if served with vegan mayo. Last, but not least, Nalic's burger is inspired by the pljeskavica at her restaurant, featuring a cheese-stuffed beef patty topped with fresh herbs and onions, kajmak, ajvar and pickles on the side.
Each burger is also paired with a local craft beer from breweries also celebrating eight years in business, including 4 Hands, Civil Life, Urban Chestnut and Perennial Artisan Ales.
All of the burgers are available for $13.
The burger ordered most out of the four will be declared the winner at the end of the month. In Baileys' past burger battles, winning burgers often receive a permanent place on the menu, so if there's a burger you fall in love with, make sure to order it over and over to cement its place in the Bailey's repertoire.
