Your favorite Missouri artisan cheeses can now be found in one place: Der Käse.

The shop, located at 100 E. 4th Street in Hermann, Missouri, was opened in August by Tom Blatchford, who also owns M & T Farms and Cool Cow Cheese. It offers more than 30 varieties of artisan cheese from the farmlands of Missouri including Baetje Farms, Homestead Dairy, Goatsbeard Farm and much more.

"A customer over time will see their favorite cheese change with the season with that cheesemaker," Blatchford says. "They can appreciate the variation and the cow and the land."

Der Käse also serves pairings for cheeses from fresh bread to meats to chocolate to dips. The shop recently paired cheeses with Jailhouse Jalapeno Brew, a locally made jalapeño mustard.

"That's a prime example of how when you get to see cheese being paired with something, that might change your mind about how cheese fits in to your menu [or cheese platter]," Blatchford says.

In October, the shop will host classes each Friday night. Topics include the Zen of Making Cheese, which will introduce cheese and cheese-making and the different types of milk. Cheddar Wars will showcase Missouri cheddar and attendees will judge the taste, and they're encouraged to bring wine to The Perfect Pairings class.

"It's fun on my side of the fence as a cheese maker," Blatchford says. "It's so exciting bringing that cheesemaker experience to the person buying the cheese."
