From July through October of last year, Kansas City buzzed with Queer Eye sightings: the cast was spotted at, among other places, The Antler Room, Golden & Pine, Messenger Coffee, Taj Palace, Q39, Beignet and Brioche Pastry Shop. But one little Kansas City, Kansas, restaurant should prepare to get a lot of attention once Season 3 airs: Jones Bar-B-Q.
Jones Bar-B-Q, located in a small brick building at 6706 Kaw Drive in Kansas City, Kansas, is owned by sisters Deborah Jones and Mary Jones Mosley, who have been cooking barbecue together for 40 years, the last four of which have been at this location. The walk-up restaurant serves chicken, sausage, burnt ends, pork ribs and rib tips, in addition to a range of sides.
The Jones sisters are the rebooted Queer Eye’s first duo to receive a makeover. Castmember Bobby Berk expanded on the experience in a recent Instagram post: “Nominated by Deborah's daughter, [the Jones’] are our first set of sisters, amongst the few female pit-masters in Kansas City and their relationship is an amazing example of the true meaning of family. We not only got to help with their personal lives but we also got a chance to do something a little different and help with their business, Jones Bar-B-Q.”
The third season of Queer Eye, which was entirely filmed in Kansas City, airs on Netflix beginning March 15.
If you can’t wait to see what the Jones sisters have to offer, their restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:45am to 3pm.
