On Wed., Jan. 9, Kearney Culinary Academy in Kearney, Missouri, announced the immediate closing of its culinary school and market.

“We have loved inviting you into our kitchen and making memories over the years, and after thoughtful deliberation, as of today, Kearney Culinary Academy will close for business,” the owners wrote on Facebook.

Kearney Culinary Academy and Market operated for a year and a half, backed by local entrepreneurs Mike Wrenn and Becky Cole, who also own The Reserve on Jefferson, a café located in the same shopping center.

Kearney Culinary Academy opened in the summer of 2017, offering a full roster of culinary classes for both adults and kids centered around cooking, baking, barbecuing and more. A year later, a market was added, selling freshly baked goods, prepared sandwiches and grab-and-go meals. 

Customers who have registered for upcoming classes will be issued full refunds. Valid gift cards will be honored at The Reserve on Jefferson or Cellar and Loft, a liquor store located in Old Church Plaza across the from the culinary academy. The remaining inventory of market items and baked goods were donated to the Kearney Police Department and the Kearney Fire Department.
