Fresh off his appearance at this year’s James Beard Awards ceremony, where he was nominated as a finalist for Best Chef: Midwest, Michael Corvino and his wife and business partner, Christina Corvino, have announced that they are preparing to open a second restaurant.
Ravenous, a fast-casual lunch counter, will open this summer in the small park at the corner of 19th and Main Streets. The kitchen space is attached to their current building, Corrigan Station, and Ravenous will feature outdoor seating.
Corvino detailed his plans in a recent newsletter. “[Ravenous will feature] daily lunch and dinner to serve our neighborhood,” he says. “We're definitely featuring our cheeseburgers, fries, and malts, and building on that. Chicken sandwiches, local veggies, fun sides, hand pies for dessert, and beer, wine, and our own bottled cocktails.” The name Ravenous comes from a play on Corvino’s name – Corvino being Italian for raven. This project represents the more playful side of this much-celebrated chef.
Christina confirmed via email that they hope to open Ravenous this summer, and that more details are soon to come.
