A Year at Montelle Winery

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Augusta American Viticultural Area (AVA), Montelle Winery is among Missouri's oldest and most respected wineries. Here, owner and winemaker Tony Kooyumjian has been producing award-winning wines for decades.

Congrats to Montelle Winery! The team behind one of Missouri's oldest and most respected wineries received word this week that the director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Dr. Jon Hagler, and the director of the Missouri Wine & Grape Board, Jim Anderson, will be presenting Montelle with the 2012 C.V. Riley Award for Best Norton on Fri., April 5.

C.V. Riley was Missouri’s first state-appointed entomologist and is credited for salvaging the French wine industry with his phylloxera-resistant rootstock. As part of the 2012 Missouri Wine Competition, the C.V. Riley Award brings highest honors for best Missouri varietal and the state grape: Norton.
