Congrats are in order for several Missouri food-and-drink producers. The winners for the 2019 Good Food Awards, which "represent the best from America’s growing movement of talented and socially responsible food crafters," have just been announced, and nine Missouri companies picked up awards.
On the sweet side, Askinosie Chocolate out of Springfield, Missouri, won a Good Food Award for its 72% Zamora, Amazonia Dark Chocolate Bar in the Chocolate category. Columbia's Patric Chocolate won in two categories: its 75% Madagascar in the Chocolate category and its Triple Ginger in the Confections category. St. Louis' Kakao Chocolate also won in the Confections category for its raspberry goat cheese truffle.
In the Beer category, St. Louis' Perennial Artisan Ales won a Good Food Award for La Cosecha, a Belgian Saison made in collaboration with Michigan brewery Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales. Newcomer KC Ciderworks won for its Reserve Series in the Cider category.
Other winners include Green Dirt Farm out of Weston, Missouri, for its popular Dirt Lover bloomy rind cheese, The Date Lady in Springfield for its its California date syrup and Banner Road Baking Co. in St. Louis for its Original Granola.
In another first this year, St. Louis' Kitchen Kulture picked up an award for its KK honey, which it uses in its popular breakfast sandwich at the Tower Grove Farmers' Market.
