This Sat., April 25, Metro East craft beer fans will have the chance to try something new at the third annual Edwardsville Spring Beer Festival, hosted by Global Brew Tap House. The festival will take place rain or shine in the Edwardsville City Park from 11am to 8pm, and offer brews for every taste.
Participating breweries includes local favorites Schlafly Beer, Civil Life Brewing Co., and Scratch Brewing Company, as well as national heavyweights Goose Island Beer Co., Ballast Point Brewing Company (including the hard-to-find Grapefruit Sculpin), Oskar Blues Brewery (just recently available in Illinois) and Stone Brewing Co.'s first brown ale, Mutt Brown. Casks from Tallgrass Brewing Co. and brews from Founders Brewing Co. and Destihl Brewery will also be available.
And what good is craft beer without some quality bites to go along with it? Food will be provided by Cleveland-Heath, 1818 Chophouse, Chava's Mexican Restaurant and the Chef's Shoppe.
Live music will entertain festivalgoers throughout the day, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the City of Edwardsville: A Better Place to Play project. Last year's festival raised more than $2,500 to send underprivileged Boy Scouts to camp, and Global Brew hopes that this year's fest will exceed these numbers for the Better Place to Play project.
The festival itself is free and open to the public. Wine and cigars will be available for purchase and now that Uber is available in the Metro East, all attendees will have access to an Uber promotion code to make driving home safe and easy.
