Missouri’s budding craft-distilling scene has many (including us) taking notice of the stellar small-batch rums, whiskeys, gins and vodkas coming out of the Show-Me State.
Four of the distillers featured in April's A Revival of Spirits recently received national recognition for their products, with four taking home top honors from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Awards include:
- Gold Medal: Pinckney Bend Gin, pinckybend.com (See our extended coverage here.)
- Gold Medal: Mastermind Vodka, mastermindvodka.com (See our extended coverage here.)
- Bronze Medal: Crown Valley Vodka, crownvalleybrewery.com
- Bronze Medal: The Big O Ginger Liqueur, drinkthebigo.com
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition’s website states that the competition is “the first comprehensive, international spirits judging ever held in the United States on an annual basis." Organizers reported a record number of entries this year, with 1,215 products from 61 countries evaluated by 34 of the finest palates from the spirits industry.
In other news, Square One Brewery and Distillery’s JJ Neukomm Malt Whiskey was recently awarded a gold medal by Beverage Testing Institute (BTI). The whiskey amassed 93 points, the highest amount of points awarded for an American whiskey in the past two years. Get the story here.
Congrats to all!
