St. Louis Restaurant Reopenings: May 10-16
Starting in mid-March, many restaurants made the difficult decision to temporarily close their doors completely due to the COVID-19 crisis. Now, as the state of Missouri begins to ease restrictions and restaurants reconfigure their operations to accommodate curbside pickup and delivery, many are open for business once again – we'll be posting weekly roundups here. Beffa's

Beffa's is back: The Midtown St. Louis restaurant reopened for curbside service on Tue., May 12. The to-go menu features a mix of appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, soups and salads, including boneless wings, Brussels sprouts, a pub burger, Reuben and fish and chips. A brunch menu is also available; look for corned beef hash, chicken and waffles, buttermilk pancakes and an omelette featuring ingredients from Double Star Farms. Following the reopening of sister restaurant Pastaria, Brasserie has reopened for zero-contact curbside pickup in the Central West End. The French bistro is offering favorites such as French onion soup, the Brasserie burger, roasted chicken and the Floating Island Wednesday through Sunday from 4 to 8pm. When ordering, guests can select a pickup time; if a time is "sold out" that means the restaurant has reached capacity for that time period. Guests should park in the valet lane outside the restaurant on Laclede Avenue and call 314.454.0600 when they arrive. Orders will be placed on a table inside the front door vestibule where guests can pick them up. Orders may be placed by phone or online starting at 1pm on the day of pickup.

Having opened in 1913, Crown Candy Kitchen is nothing short of an icon in St. Louis. The beloved lunch spot and confectioner has reopened in Old North offering its full menu – including its famous Heart-Stopping BLT piled high with thick-sliced, crispy bacon – for curbside carryout and walkup customers. Webster Groves favorite Frisco Barroom officially reopened for carryout on Tue., May 12. In addition to menu favorites such as the pretzel with beer cheese, burger, pastrami sandwich and French dip, the restaurant is offering a selection of market items and deli meats. Look for items such as smoked whitefish dip, chicken salad, buttermilk dressing, French baguettes, smoked turkey, rare top round roast beef and more; market and deli items require 48 hours notice. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am to 8pm, and orders can be placed online or by phone.

The Grove's favorite sandwich shop is back in business. As of May 12, The Gramophone is offering outdoor pickup at a walk-up window Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Guests can order online at gramophonestl.com or by calling 314.531.5700; only credit cards will be accepted. Delivery is available for orders over $50 with at least 24 hours notice; order delivery by emailing courtney@thegramophonelive.com.

After a brief closure, Kaldi's Coffee Roasting Co. has reopened several of its cafés in St. Louis, including the original Demun location, Chesterfield, Kirkwood and the Mid Campus Center at Washington University Medical Campus (you must have a BJC or WUSTL badge to order from this location). Each café will be open daily from 7am to 3pm, serving Kaldi's staples such as the seasonal lavender-mint latte, avocado toast and breakfast burrito for curbside pickup and takeout. Guests can order online through the Toast app.

Nathaniel Reid's exquisite pastries are now available for curbside pickup. The acclaimed pastry chef reopened his eponymous Kirkwood bakeshop on May 12, offering a limited menu of bakery items, sandwiches, jams and more. Currently, the bakery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm; orders can be placed from 9am until sold out. A few items, such as the quiche, macarons, poundcakes, individual cakes and large cakes, must be ordered 24 hours in advance. Orders can be placed by phone or online.

Starting Fri., May 15, Pappy's Smokehouse will be open Friday through Sunday from 11am to 6pm (or until sold out). The popular barbecue joint will start with a limited menu available for order by calling 314.535.4340 or curbside ordering in Pappy’s parking lot. Upon arrival, customers will be directed to a numbered parking spot where they'll either pick up their order or place an order on-site. Co-founder John Matthews says the menu options and days of operation will expand in the future; for now, you can still look forward to the popular beef brisket toasted ravioli developed in collaboration with Anthonino's Taverna this past February. Following its sister restaurant Winslow's Table, Vicia reopened for service on Thurs., May 14. The acclaimed restaurant is offering a new Seasonal Dinner To Go, featuring an à la carte menu "highlighting the best of in season produce and local meats along with freshly baked breads and dessert." Designed by chef Aaron Martinez, the menu allows guests to build a complete meal by mixing and matching Vicia's salads, grains and meats. Choose from favorites such as Parker House Rolls with fresh whipped butter, a spring panzanella salad and pork fat fried rice. Customers can also shop from Vicia's curated wine list and bottled cocktails made with ingredients grown in Vicia's on-site garden. Soon, Vicia plans to introduce meal kits that allow diners to make some of chef-owner Michael Gallina's favorite meals at home. Orders can be placed online, and guests can select a time for curbside pick up Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 8pm.

In University City, Winslow's Table is returning to its roots as a neighborhood market. The restaurant reopened Wed., May 13 as a market and bakery offering grocery and prepared foods along with to-go meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Owners Michael and Tara Gallina are offering produce and pantry items from some of the best producers in the area, including Rolling Lawns Farm milk, Winslow’s Farm fresh eggs, McKaskle Family Farm grains and more. The limited food menu includes the breakfast sandwich, rotating grain bowl and meatloaf. Grocery orders can be placed online for pickup Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm, and food can be ordered online for curbside pickup or on the spot at the new walk-up window, which opens at 8am.
