This weekend, Boardwalk Waffles & Ice Cream is closing its doors in downtown Maplewood, Missouri, but fans needn't worry – the shop is relocating to an expanded space just down the block.
The original location at 7326B Manchester Road, which opened in early 2017, will close its doors on Sun., Aug. 9. The new location, located at the corner of Manchester and Sutton at 7376 Manchester Road, will open just a few days later on Sat., Aug. 15.
"I've poured blood, sweat and tears into this 'stumbled-upon' love of mine but it's time to move on to bigger and better spaces," owner Eric Moore said in a press release. "This small and unique space has been home to so many memories for so many customers. Countless numbers of people have crammed themselves into our 350-square-foot space over the past 3 years, they've made new friends, had a new dessert, and even a few were proposed to for marriage. The love I've received from the community and the press has been beyond my wildest dreams."
The new 2,200-square-foot location will allow for seating inside, as well as several new menu items including milkshakes, to-go pints of ice cream, new flavors of waffles and an expanded lineup of 24 ice cream flavors. The new Boardwalk Waffles will also have a full liquor license, so Moore said he plans to offer "Waffle Brunch" on Saturdays and Sundays in the coming weeks.
"I've been working non-stop on this space since December of 2019 and I'm really looking forward to everyone enjoying an even more unique adventure than before," Moore said.
