Starting this week, look for some new, locally made healthy grab-and-go meals at your local Schnucks store.
Revel Kitchen, which has locations in both Brentwood and Clayton, Missouri, will begin distributing nine different offerings from its menu to 10 St. Louis-area Schnucks locations this week.
The partnership started when chef-owner Simon Lusky began sitting on an advisory board of local chefs and restaurateurs that Schnucks started about a year ago. According to Lusky, the board was formed to help with development of new stores and to get some outside opinions, as well as figure out how they could better integrate with local companies like Revel. The talks to carry Revel Kitchen products go back about four months, Lusky says, before the COVID-19 crisis began and the restaurant had a need for extra revenue.
"They've had an interest in expanding their health and wellness offerings," he says. "It kind of just blossomed at the right time for us."
The 10-ounce juices all sell for just $3.
All of Revel Kitchen's in-store items will be offered, ready to eat, in the store's grab-and-go section. Selections will include the restaurant's Kale Comeback in a whole-wheat wrap, a Miso Healthy bowl, a new Southern-inspired bowl and the signature Birdie Balls in a peanut butter and jelly flavor. Revel will also sell two popular sauces, its lemon-garlic aïoli and cilantro-lime sauce, as well as the Kale Yeah and Hang 10 juices in spill-proof pouches.
Currently, Revel Kitchen is producing the products and shipping them out to participating stores, which has helped them to retain staff and give staff more hours. The first round is expected to hit store shelves Wednesday.
"It means a lot to me, the business, all our employees, our team," Lusky says. "We're just excited for this."
