Du Jour will feature a rotating selection of high-end wines from Sasha's cellar.

If you're a lover of fine wines, you'll want to spend your weekends in Clayton this month. 

Alan Richman, owner of Sasha's Wine Bar, and sommelier Denise Mueller have teamed up to raid the Sasha's cellar to curate a menu of bottles on Fridays and Saturdays at 740 Demun Avenue. The space was formerly home to Barrio, which closed its doors in August. 

While some wines will be available by the glass, the concentration will be on bottles. Over the years, Richman has collected several wines in the Sasha's cellar, and this will be a chance to share them with the world without the restaurant-level markup they typically would have. 

"We have, what I think, is an excellent bottle list, but [Sasha's], it's not really a steakhouse or fine dining, so these wines don't get purchased as often as I would like, and I wanted to present them at a time when people are maybe more interested in celebrating," Richman says. "And we're going to try to keep it in a comfortable price range on top of that so that a broader audience can experience these, and just see what happens. Just experiment, have fun with it." 

The bottle menu will change each night, and the menus will see different themes each night. For example, one night might feature specific verticals, including multiple vintages of the same wine from the same producer, so guests can taste how the grapes change from year to year. 

"It's a fun opportunity, if you're into wine, to taste all those different wines side by side," Richman says. 

Plus, if you're a big fan of bubbly, make sure to stop by on New Year's Eve. To ring in the new year, sparkling wines and Champagne will be the menu focus. 

Mueller says that whether you're a wine connoisseur or you just like drinking wine, you'll have a good time at Du Jour.

"It's a really cool pop up," she says. "Whether you know a lot about wine or not, you can still really geek out and love it. We're just gonna have a lot of fun. The only expectation is to have a great time."

The pop up won't have a full kitchen, but some tapas-style dishes will come complimentary with bottle purchases or can be ordered à la carte.

If cocktails are more your style, there will also be a cocktail-focused pop up in the same space headed up by the bar team at Sasha's and a few other new hires. Every night will have a different focus, like mezcal drinks or classic cocktails, and the themes will be announced ahead of time. Richman says that mostly, he just wants the employees to have fun with it and give them a challenge. 

The Du Jour wine pop-up will be open Fridays and Saturdays through the new year from 5pm until "bottles run dry." The cocktail pop-up will additionally be open Tuesday through Sunday until the end of December. On New Year's Eve, Du Jour will be open from 5pm to 1am.
