Twin Cities Best Kept Secret has opened its doors again, but this time, the local favorite can be found in Festus. Samples, door prizes and more greeted guests at the grand reopening June 6.
“The grand opening went great,” says co-owner Robyn Brew, who owns the business with Leslie Cole. “We were extremely busy.”
Twin Cities Best Kept Secret moved to 126 Main Street in Festus after previously being located at 320 Bailey Road in Crystal City.
“It was the perfect size for just starting out,” Brew says of the Crystal City location. “We had no idea how fast we would grow, and we quickly realized we would need a bigger space.”
Along with the expanded dining area at the new location – which is quaint, cozy and has a chic farmhouse vibe – menu offerings have also expanded to include new sandwiches, wraps, salads and appetizers.
“Our menu has expanded greatly,” Brew says. “The Main Street Trio Sub is becoming a customer favorite. And we have the best ice coffee and frappes. Our cinnamon caramel mocha is a huge hit.”
Menu items include indulgent apps like toasted ravioli, mozzarella sticks and breaded mushrooms. Sandwiches range from chicken salad to hot dogs to a fancy take on a grilled cheese. Soups also rotate daily between a homestyle chicken noodle soup, cheddar potato, cheddar broccoli and chili.
What may make you want to skip lunch altogether, though, are the two cases of delectable desserts that await at checkout – think turtle brownies, German chocolate cupcakes, kreme horns, carrot cake, muffins and cookies galore.
“I tried the strawberry and chocolate cupcake samples, and they were delightful,” Gina Whitener commented on a Facebook post celebrating the grand reopening. “Red Velvet cupcake was what I actually purchased and it was perfect!!”
Also worthy of note is the new patio that also adorns the back of the building.
“Our customers enjoy the use of a brand new beautiful patio that we share with Four Brothers Mead,” Brew says. “Customers can order, and we will bring it right out to them, and they can enjoy the outdoors. There is also a 7-foot door between Four Brothers Mead and Twin Cities Best Kept Secret. You can have a drink and try the mead and come over, and we will bring it right to your table. They are the best neighbors we could possibly ask for.”
