St. Louis is losing one of the three locations of Russell's Café & Bakery.

In a press release, chef-owner Russell Ping announced that he would be closing the Chesterfield location of Russell's. The café, which has been open since December 2017, will shut its doors after service on Sun., Sept. 27. 

Fans need not fear, however: The original Russell's Café & Bakery in Fenton, Russell's on Macklind and Lola Jean's Coffee will all remain open. 

“This has been the hardest decision of my career, but we have to do what’s best to maintain the business that we’ve built over the last 15 years," Ping said in the release. "Our restaurants have always operated with a focus on quality product, community involvement, commitment to our core values and responsible local sourcing. We are incredibly thankful for the time that we have spent in Chesterfield. We cannot express enough gratitude towards guests that made our Chesterfield location part of their daily lives. This is the end of a chapter, but we are excited to spend some time shifting thoughts back to our roots at Fenton and Macklind, getting creative, enjoying what we do, and maybe spending a little more time at home.” 

The two remaining Russell's locations will also become defined as separate concepts under the same brand as time goes on. The plan is to expand bakery options in Fenton, while Russell's on Macklind will continue as a full-service restaurant focusing on dinner and weekend brunch.
