Mission Taco Joint is bringing back its giveback taco.
The restaurant group, which operates several locations in St. Louis and Kansas City, regularly offers limited-edition tacos to support local charities. The first giveback taco to hit the menu since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the new BLT taco is a spin on the classic sandwich with beer-battered bacon, avocado, chipotle aïoli, shredded lettuce and pickled tomatillos on a flour tortilla.
This month, a portion of sales from each BLT Taco will benefit two organizations focused on racial equity: Forward through Ferguson in St. Louis and Urban League of Greater Kansas City at the Kansas City locations.
"Since the pandemic hit, we focused on how to keep Mission Taco Joint adaptable so we could best serve our customers," co-owner and chef Jason Tilford said in a release. "We are so grateful for everyone who has supported us, and now, we can get back to showing that gratitude with our giveback tacos. We hope to continue to partner with worthwhile local charities in the future."
The taco will be available at all Mission Taco Joint locations in St. Louis and Kansas City for a limited time.
