It's official: Rockwell Beer Garden opens Oct. 22 in Francis Park

Rockwell Beer Garden

At Rockwell Beer Garden, guests can grab a beer and a pizza and then hit the pickleball courts.

Just in the time for the weekend, St. Louis has a new spot to grab a beer.

Rockwell Beer Co. has announced that its much-anticipated second location, Rockwell Beer Garden, will open on Fri., Oct. 22.

The new walk-up food counter, concession stand and outdoor gathering space is located inside Francis Park in the city's St. Louis Hills neighborhood. Here, you'll find Rockwell's signature craft beer – including favorites like Stand By Hoppy Pilsner, Passing Clouds Witbier and Velour Tracksuit IPA – plus wine and cocktails, alongside a full food menu unique to this location. Where the original Rockwell location serves burgers from Niche Food Group's Brasswell, Rockwell Beer Garden will serve a pizza-focused menu.

The food menu at Rockwell Beer Garden was developed by culinary director Michael Petres, who worked at The Ritz-Carlton, Balaban’s, ARAKA, Terrene and, perhaps most notably, Niche Food Group, where he worked for 10 years and eventually became the restaurant group's corporate executive chef. Thin-crust party-cut pizzas are the star of his menu at Rockwell Beer Garden; diners can choose from a classic Margherita or pepperoni pie as well as options including The Broccwell with red sauce, mozzarella, onions, charred broccoli and sweet peppers or a pizza with corn and cherry tomatoes. Starters include pizza bread with garlic and herb oil, chickpea dip, spinach-artichoke dip and a chopped salad. Grab-and-go items will also be available.

"We’ve assembled an excellent team with deep experience, coupled with great beer, outstanding food and thoughtful design," Rockwell Beer Co. co-founder Chris Hulse said in a press release. "Our goal for this project is to recapture the sense of community and pride that has been a major component of this city’s history. St. Louis was once filled with beer gardens. Our hope is that this will be a catalyst for other public-private ventures throughout the city. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and I can’t wait to welcome guests."

According to Rockwell, the beer garden is located "within and surrounding a fully rehabbed and reimagined 1929 'comfort center' building adjacent to the Francis Park tennis and pickleball courts." In addition its food and beverage offerings, Rockwell will rent out pickleball equipment to guests.

Rockwell Beer Garden will be open, weather permitting, through mid-December. Operating days and hours will be posted weekly on social media and the brewery's website
