The Bao

Wagyu bao with Havarti, arugula, truffle mayo and sunny egg is available in the box for an upcharge.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, restaurants are coming up with creative ways to feed their customers, and The Bao has conjured up a few fun meal deals. The downtown Clayton, Missouri, restaurant is selling a family bao kit to feed a crowd and a "survivor" bowl (a bowl of your choice, six gyoza and a mushroom soup).

But if you have an appetite for pillowy bao buns tonight, we recommend going for The Bao's Survivor Bao Box.

This box of bao will satisfy your cravings for comfort food and big, bold flavors. For $19, you get three bao of your choice and an order of fries. Choose from the char siu (barbecue pork), fried chicken, teriyaki bacon, pork belly, spicy beef or Impossible bao if you want to keep things vegetarian. Want to mix it up? For an upcharge, you can spring for the mala hot chicken, crispy shrimp, Wagyu burger, soft shell crab or even spicy lobster.

If the Surviver Bao Box sounds like too much of an undertaking, don't worry: The Bao is still serving the rest of its menu, including tuna nachos, yuzu popcorn chicken and its pizza gyoza, plus all of its buns a la carte.

The Bao is offering its menu for curbside pickup and delivery through DoorDash, GrubHub and Postmates.
