There are a lot of good places to get a chicken sandwich in St. Louis, but have you ever had one made by a gold medal Culinary Olympian?
After a year of anticipation, chef Ben Grupe opened his first restaurant, Tempus, in The Grove this past October. And while the restaurant is rumored to have a beautiful dining room, guests wouldn't know it yet; Tempus has opened with a sole focus on takeout.
Whether you want to go casual or upscale, Tempus has options for you. Options vary from a burger with caramelized onions and dill pickles to a black cod dish served with kombu clam broth, potato and trout roe, but we recommend picking up the fried chicken sandwich if you're looking for something handheld. Grupe puts a fried chicken patty on a sesame bun and accompanies it with mayo and bread-and-butter pickles for a sandwich that is as simple as it is delicious.
Don't miss out on ordering some sides with your sandwich, either. Go for a spin on fries with rosemary and sea salt fingerling potatoes, get your vegetables in with collard greens made with ham hocks or try something out-of-the-box like creamed sauerkraut.
Tempus is offering its menu for takeout exclusively.
