Starting this week, St. Louis Hills residents will have another spot to stock up on groceries.

Edibles & Essentials, a popular neighborhood café and market, has announced it will reopen after a temporary five-week closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chef-owner Matthew Borchardt announced that Edibles & Essentials will reopen its doors on Thu., April 23, offering fresh produce, locally sourced eggs and chicken, smoked meats and local cheeses. True to the café's nature, some favorite menu items will be available as meal kits or prepared meals for customers to take home and re-heat. The market will also offer to-go cocktails as well as packaged beer, spirits and wine.

"We are going to provide our community with the service it needs right now," Borchardt said in a release. "Our entire concept was founded on being a local market & café and that is what our focus will be moving forward until the world is a safer place."

Edibles & Essentials will be following all CDC recommendations and suggestions to keep employees and guests as safe as possible, and a maximum of two shoppers will be allowed in the store at a time. Guests can also order ahead of time for no-contact curbside pickup, and orders will be placed on the bench in front of the restaurant.

"We are just asking for everyone to have patience with us as roll into unchartered territory," Borchardt said. "It may take us a week or so to get up to full steam."

Starting April 23, Edibles & Essentials will be open Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 4pm.
