Just in time for the dog days of summer, several new concepts have opened doors in St. Louis. Acclaimed chef Tello Carreón, who helped open Nixta in Botanical Heights, has teamed up with the family behind Las Palmas to open Alta Calle, which adds elevated Mexican cuisine to the diverse assortment of fare found on South Grand. The Last Kitchen, located inside the swanky new The Last Hotel in Downtown St. Louis, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily under the tutelage of executive chef Evy Swoboda (formerly of Pastaria). 

Notably, the acclaimed Reeds American Table closed its doors, and two restaurants announced plans to close next month. The legendary Balaban's will close its Chesterfield, Missouri, location and return to the Central West End, while the beloved Mac's Local Eats plans to shutter its location inside Tamm Avenue Bar in Dogtown at the end of the month to focus on an upcoming location inside Bluewood Brewing on Cherokee Street.
