Frida's Burger

You can now make some of your favorite Frida's dishes at home.

You can now make meals from a favorite St. Louis-area restaurant from the comfort of you own home.

Frida's, a spot known for its vegetarian and vegan cuisine in University City, stopped offering its full menu for pickup and delivery amid the coronavirus pandemic this weekend. But now, the restaurant is offering a new option to make its favorite meals fresh at home: meal kits.

Similar to kits like Blue Apron and Hello Fresh that have become popular in recent years, Frida's will offer make-at-home kits for favorite dishes like the Frida burger, the "tuna" salad and the sunflower taco "meat." Some of the meal kits will have accompanying videos online where you can learn how to cook from Frida's chef-owner Natasha Kwan.

"We're hoping for some fun," she says.

Kwan says that since people are stuck at home right now, why not give them something to do for 15 minutes?

"We're just going to try to make light of it, just being at home," she says.

There will even be a kit including all of the restaurant's burgers – one Frida burger, one black bean burger, one Impossible burger and one Beyond Meat burger – allowing for a fun meat-free burger taste test at home.

The restaurant is also offering other prepared meals that only require heating up to eat, like vegetable lasagna with tofu ricotta. If you're looking for something to unwind with at the end of the day, Frida's will also be offering its cocktail mixers to go. The best-selling Margarita mix includes hibiscus and fresh juices sweetened with raw, organic agave; it's meant to mix with the tequila blanco of your choice. Frida's will also be selling a cherry-lavender cocktail mixer to blend with mezcal.

Frida's prepared foods and meal kits are available for no-contact pickup, curbside pickup and limited in-house delivery within a three-mile radius of the restaurant. Orders can be placed via phone, but this week the restaurant will also have a full online ordering system.
