St. Charles has a new brewpub from an old favorite: Schlafly Beer

Schlafly Bankside, the brand's third brewhub in the St. Louis area, is now open for business in downtown St. Charles. The location was formerly home to Trailhead Brewing Co., just steps away from the Missouri river. The space was given a fresh paint job, new floors, kitchen equipment and a draft system before reopening under its new owners.

The brewpub will have 16 beers on draft, including the new Bankside Lager to celebrate the location. The food menu will be similar to those at Schlafly's Tap Room and Bottleworks locations, but will eventually expand to include items like pizzas and barbecue favorites. For now, the restaurant is offering a limited menu in addition to on-site retail so guests can take some beer home.

The restaurant and bar is open to guests who want to check out the new space and enjoy a beer, but, in accordance with local guidelines, only at 25 percent capacity. Only table service is available; for now, counter seating is not allowed. The restaurant is also taking additional precautions: All staff members will be wearing masks, sanitation procedures will be increased and, when ordering beer, guests will be given the option to drink from glass, plastic or prepackaged cans or bottles if they are available.

“After months of planning, preparing and pivoting, we’re thrilled to officially open our doors and become a member of the St. Charles community,” Schlafly CEO Fran Caradonna said in the release. “We have worked to establish new processes and procedures to ensure the safety of our visitors and employees. Whenever our guests feel comfortable, we will be here with the necessary measures in place to provide a safe and welcoming environment.”

Reservations can be made by phone or on Open Table. Schlafly Bankside is also offering curbside pickup like its sister locations.
