Locoz Tacoz is putting down roots.
This summer, the popular food truck plans to open a brick-and-mortar location in Tower Grove South. Owner Tyler Garcia will be serving up his authentic street tacos in a new bar from the owner of the neighboring Amsterdam Tavern. The concept and name of the bar have not been announced yet, but Locoz Tacoz will operate out of a kitchen inside the new bar.
"This has been seven years in the making, and I'm just so grateful," Garcia says.
Locoz Tacoz will also be able to serve those in Amsterdam Tavern, so guests can cheer on their favorite soccer teams while chowing down on Mexican cuisine. The partnership, which started when Garcia reached out to Amsterdam Tavern on social media, shouldn't be a surprise to St. Louis soccer fans: Locoz Tacoz is also the official food truck of the St. Louis Football Club.
Garcia says that while the menu might not be the exact same, some of the Locoz Tacoz favorites are sure to be on the brick-and-mortar menu. Expect to see those street tacos as well as quesadillas, burritos and Locoz Fries, seasoned fries covered in cheese sauce and topped with asada, pico de gallo, queso fresco, sour cream and a signature sauce. Garcia says there will be some rotating specials as well.
"Everything's all 100 percent authentic; everything's made from scratch," he says.
Matt Stelzer, the managing officer of Amsterdam Tavern, says that there is no set date for the opening of the new bar and Locoz Tacoz storefront, but it's likely about three months out from opening.
And those who love the food truck don't have to worry: Locoz Tacoz will remain on the road, especially at St. Louis FC home games.
