Wellspent Brewing Co. officially has a return date.
Founders Kyle and Angela Kohlmorgen shut the brewery's doors in August but soon found an investor, Eben Shantz, who is the new owner of the brewery. With him, they were able to reopen with Kyle Kohlmorgen staying on as head brewer.
The brewery was known for its yeast-driven beers.
"I was super happy with how it turned out," Kohlmorgen says.
The taproom, which will open on Sat., Feb. 15, will be located at the same address on Olive Street in Midtown.
The centuries-old brewing tool is wildly unpredictable, yet can produce unique, terroir-driven beer.
Kohlmorgen says that there will initially be about 10 beers on tap, with five being versions of beers that Wellspent has brewed previously. Expect beers that are fermentation-focused such as Belgians, lagers and fruited sour beers, among others.
The brewery will also be releasing barrel-aged brews that were made before Wellspent shut down operations last summer. Since they never lost the space, those beers have been aging while Wellspent got back on its feet.
