Baseball and barbecue fans alike have a new spot to kick back in Downtown St. Louis.

Popular St. Louis-based barbecue chain Salt + Smoke opens its fifth location today. The restaurant, located in the base of the One Cardinal Way building in Ballpark Village, features a 5,500-square-foot first floor dining room, plus a 2,500-square-foot patio overlooking Busch Stadium.

“If you bar-b-que for a living, you must have patience,” Salt + Smoke co-owner Tom Schmidt said in a press release. “It took us a little longer to open this location because of the pandemic, but our team was determined to get it done. We can’t wait to open our doors to the best fans in baseball and to become a part of the 365-day atmosphere that Ballpark Village offers.”

Schmidt says he and Salt + Smoke co-owner and pitmaster Haley Riley have spent years refining the menu to be the best it can be, so you can expect to see an identical menu to Salt + Smoke's other locations. In addition to a full, bourbon-heavy bar program, look for popular dishes like St. Louis-style ribs, brisket, white Cheddar cracker mac 'n' cheese and the burnt end toasted ravioli.

Schmidt also collaborated with Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. on a new beer, Schmidt’s Light, which will soon be available on tap at all Salt + Smoke locations and makes for a refreshing sipper to sit back and enjoy the game from right across the street.

Salt + Smoke's Ballpark Village location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 9pm and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 10pm.
