Sure, Agave Neighborhood Grill & Bar serves Mexican classics such as quesadillas, burritos and enchiladas, but husband-and-wife duo Martin Ortiz and Kryztal Arteaga also hide a few Easter eggs on the menu that bring unique flavors to the table.
One dish, in particular, shows off their culinary ingenuity. While white American cheese and creamy chipotle sauce are pretty standard for Springfield-style Mexican fare, here they’re paired with a baked poblano pepper stuffed with grilled shrimp for something more unexpected.
At Agave, shrimp is served in other ways, too, bringing coastal flair to the landlocked restaurant. The shrimp cocktail, shrimp with garlic sauce and pico de gallo and shrimp soup all have their moments.
