Although the Quarry Town development has been in the works for years, driving down Lone Pine and seeing the new businesses pop up left and right is enough to make any native Springfieldian feel like they are on a day trip in a different town. Now added to the roster of new eastside businesses, which also includes Great Escape Beer Works, is The Rock Food & Friends.
The Rock serves all the traditional bar favorites like pizza, burgers, wings and tacos. But no matter what you're craving, owner Tim Bair has sprinkled the menu with options that leave you feeling light enough to go on a brisk walk in nearby Sequiota Park park right after your meal. For example, you can swap traditional crust for cauliflower crust on your pizza. Instead of eating a taco filled with heavy ground beef, try the Ahi Tuna Fish Tacos topped with house slaw, Boom Boom sauce and sweet chile sauce.
They’re low-carb, low-calorie alternatives to traditional dough.
Bair also owns Bair’s Sports Grill, which opened in 2007. "We wanted to do something different, and we love the area down here," he says. "We've had some success with [Bair's Sports Grill], so we decided to give this a try."
Of course, none of Bair's projects would be complete without an impressive drink menu. The Limestone Margarita, named after the neighborhood's abundant natural resource, marries Camarena Blanco Tequila and Grangala orange liqueur with Margarita mix. You can also flavor your drink with a fresh-fruit purée, in flavors like mango, pineapple, strawberry, raspberry, peach or blueberry.
But no matter what you order, The Rock provides a place to retreat from the busy work week with friends in Springfield's picturesque Galloway Creek. So grab a seat on the outdoor patio and take advantage of dining outside on the cool summer nights.
