In southwest Missouri, it’s hard to find an almond croissant that’s more authentic than chef Roland Parny’s.
The French native has a résumé that totes workplaces such as the Paris Opera, so it’s not surprising that people commonly commute for hours to wipe La Galette Berrichonne's pastry display case clean.
While Roland and his wife, Elaine, have announced plans to sell their French comfort food café's building, you can still reserve pastries for pickup on Saturdays by calling 417.738.2112 for the time being.
But fear not: Elaine says they have plans to open an antique store with a bakery once the café closes.
Pastries and baked good offerings at La Galette Berrichonne currently include:
- Regular croissant
- Chocolate croissant
- Almond croissant
- Raisin bun
- Mixed fruit turnover
- Apple or fruit tart
- Cream puff
- Chocolate éclair
- Galette Berrichonne, a puff pastry with puréed potatoes and goat cheese
- 1-pound French sourdough loaf
If you need something to pad the sugar crash, Roland is also making fresh quiche and frozen entrees including chicken DuBois, chicken dijonaise, beef burgundy and seafood croustade.
