On Jan. 24, CB Social House made quite the announcement on Facebook: The restaurant is dropping the “CB” from its name, and reopening as Social on Patton, or just “Social” for short.
Due to weather, the grand opening has been moved to tonight, Feb. 7. With consolidated ownership, Social is focusing on the strengths of its executive chef, Daniel Stern. Stern promises a creative menu and a commitment to one-of-a-kind dining experiences. Social has also expanded its chef’s table offerings to accommodate up to 10 people, and guests who want to schedule a chef’s table dinner can contact Stern to plan their individualized menu.
Each Monday, Social is opening up its downstairs cellar bar to taste-testers as Stern and beverage director Doug Riddle will have focused “R&D” nights. “We’ll be testing out two or three new items that we see as possibilities for the menu,” Stern says. “We welcome guest feedback on these items, and we will be taking comments into consideration when choosing what will make the cut. There will be limited seating available, and we will not be running our normal menu on Monday nights.”
Social’s new regular menu, available Tuesday through Saturday, offers a variety of items inspired by guest favorites from past chef’s table experiences. While the new restaurant still offers a 14-ounce steak and some hearty deviled eggs, much of the menu is a departure from the Southern-style food CB Social House was known for serving. Squash and apple soup, beets and sprouts are all on the new menu, as well as duck and salmon. Social on Patton promises frequent updates and rotations to go with the smaller, more focused food offerings.
Social on Patton is also rolling out a private meeting space that accommodates up to 40. The space will be available for reservations Tuesday through Saturday between 4 and 10pm, Social’s normal dining hours.
