Time to raise a glass: The Ozarks' own Piney River Brewing Co. will host its seventh "Aleiversary" anniversary event on Sat., March 24. Free to the public, this family-friendly party will be held at Piney River's brewery and tap room (affectionately known as "the BARn") in Bucyrus, Missouri. The taproom will offer several beers for the celebration, including year-round favorites like the Black Walnut Wheat (Piney River's most popular beer), Float Trip Ale, Cerveza Rio Mexican-Style Lager, McKinney Eddy Amber Ale, Bronzeback Pale Ale, Old Tom Porter and the Missouri Mule India Pale Ale.
Fans of more funky flavors should keep an eye out for the Missouri Waltz with Blackberries and Missouri Waltz with Raspberries. The two mixed-fermentation ales are part of Piney River's “Farm Raised Funk” line. The Raise a Ruckus, a limited-release imperial stout with coffee and vanilla, will also be available in whiskey- and bourbon-barrel aged variants. Also slated to be poured at the event are the Big Red Barn Ale, an imperial red ale; Rainy Lake Lager, a beer brewed with North American wild rice; and the Lizzie Twister, a Berliner Weisse.
Perhaps the most anticipated release, however, is the Mule Team India Pale Ale. Piney River co-founder and head brewer Brian Durham explains that the imperial IPA was first brewed for Piney River’s 2013 anniversary, but is only released once a year – making it a hot commodity for the most loyal Piney River fans. The beer has a strong hop flavor and aroma from several additions of centennial, citra and mosaic hops and will also be available in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans.
Guests are invited to bring a camp chair as the event will take place outside (weather permitting) complete with live music and food. The “Aleiversary” will feature two bands: Joshin the Giants from Neosho and Jervis Jort from Kansas City. Piney River will have plenty of its handmade pizza available all weekend, and the food truck Mike and Julie’s Smoked Meats of Huggins will offer Irish nachos, smoked meat sliders, street tacos and more on Saturday. Andy’s Homemade Root Beer, a non-alcoholic homemade root beer, will be available for kids and designated drivers.
“The event is always a good time: we normally have several hundred people that come through. For my husband and me, it’s an opportunity to celebrate our success in the craft beer business with people who have been loyal supporters of our brand this whole time,” co-owner Joleen Durham says.
Piney River's "Aleiversary" party will be held Sat., March 24 from noon to 7pm.
