Score a delicious Game Day with these winning recipes from Jack Daniel’s®

Jack® and Coke® Braised Beef Short Ribs

Serves 4 to 6 people

Ingredients

2 lbs boneless beef short ribs, trimmed, cut into 2- to 3-inch cubes
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Vegetable oil
2 carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
2 ribs celery, roughly chopped
1 medium onion, roughly chopped
5 cloves garlic, smashed
¼ cup Jack Daniel’s®
2 cups Coke®
2 cups beef stock or broth

|Preparation| Preheat oven to 350°F. Liberally season the short ribs all over with salt and pepper. In a Dutch oven, heat 1 Tbsp of vegetable oil over medium high heat. Add the short ribs and brown on all sides (you might have to do this in a few batches, as not to crowd the pan). Remove the browned ribs and reserve them on a plate.

To the Dutch oven, add the carrots, celery, onion and garlic and stir. Let the vegetables start to brown and cook, stirring occasionally for 4 to 5 minutes. Add the Jack Daniel’s to the hot pan with the vegetables, and stir, scraping the bottom of the pan to get the browned bits oﬀ. Add the Coke® and beef stock and stir everything to combine.

Add the short ribs back to the pot and nestle them in between the vegetables and liquid. Bring the mixture to a boil, place the lid on the pot, then place the pot into the oven. Braise for 2½ to 3 hours, until the short ribs are falling-apart tender.

Once the ribs are fully tender, take the pan out of the oven and use tongs to remove the ribs, reserving them on a plate. Using two forks, shred the short rib meat into pieces, pulling out any extra fat or connective tissue.

Strain the vegetables out of the sauce using a strainer. Heat the remaining liquid in the Dutch oven over high heat on the stove, reducing the liquid until about half is left (about 2 cups).

Add the shredded beef to the reduced sauce, combine and taste for seasoning, adding more salt and pepper if needed. Serve the seasoned meat and sauce mixture to top tacos, nachos, sliders and more.
