Farmers market season is officially here! All around the St. Louis area, farmers are hauling their goods from near and far for you to pick from.
The growing season is just kicking into gear, so you may not see the bounty that you would once summer hits, but there's lots of produce ready and waiting for you: Look for things like greens, asparagus, radishes, rhubarb, artichokes and herbs. Ramps (wild onions) are popping right now, so head to your favorite forager to get some during their short growing season.
And it's not just about the produce: Look for locally made goods like nut butters, pesto, chili crisp and lemon curd from makers at the market. They've done the work for you: All you need to do is find a recipe to use them in. Another market favorite? Specialty items like goose eggs, which are a luxurious transition from chicken eggs: They're larger and richer thanks to the ratio of yolk to white.
