The August 2013 episode of Feast TV is inspired by our third annual Feast 50 issue. The Feast 50 is our annual tip of the hat to the best in St. Louis food and drink. This year, we reached out to 50 of the region’s top culinarians and asked them to wax poetic about what dishes they crave, who they most respect and where they choose to dine when they’re not in the kitchen. The result is a rich view of the St. Louis food world from the perspective of the people who know it best.
In going over all of the information for the issue, we realized that there were a few folks that were called out time and time again. This month's Feast TV episode spotlights four of them:
Mike Emerson of Pappy's Smokehouse greets guests from around the world and talks about what brings them to the St. Louis barbecue standout.
Qui Tran of Mai Lee tells the story of how his family introduced the first Vietnamese restaurant to St. Louis decades ago and brings you behind the scenes to meet the inspiration behind it all: his mom.
Gerard Craft of Craft Restaurants Ltd. talks about the inspiration behind each of his four well-known restaurants and the recent evolution of the St. Louis food scene.
Kevin Nashan of Sidney Street Cafe talks about the strong sense of community that runs through St. Louis' culinary scene and takes viewers behind the scenes at the No Kid Hungry fundraising dinner, which featured some of the Midwest's best chefs at his restaurant.
Publisher Catherine Neville rounds out the show with a cooking demo on Sidney Street Cafe's classic dumpling dish. Get the recipe here!
