September brought Kansas City diners a ton of variety in its new restaurants and bars. First, the city’s first plant-based diner opened this month with Pirate’s Bone Burgers, located in the Crossroads at 20th and Main Streets. September also welcomed chef Carlos Falcon’s newest eatery, Sayachi Sushi and Oyster Bar, in Brookside. In Prairie Village, the North Carolina-based Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken opened its first Midwest location, serving Southern comforts. Two new tamale shops also opened their doors; the first is Café Corazón in Westport, which serves fair-trade Latin American coffee, yerba mate, daily rotating tamales and pastries. Also serving homestyle, made-fresh-daily tamales is Mama’s Tamale Shop in Lawrence.
Cocktail and kombucha enthusiasts also have several new options to explore, including the J. Rieger & Co. distillery’s premier cocktail bar and restaurant, the Hey! Hey! Club, in the basement of its grand new facility. Oak + Steel, a new whiskey bar located at the ground level of the parking garage opened at 18th and Baltimore Streets, while Lotus is serving up cocktails in the former home of Snow & Co. in Westport. Finally, Tea-Biotics Kombucha has debuted its impressive new headquarters, dubbed the “largest kombucha taproom in the World,” in Olathe.
