Kansas City has a new eclectic spot to grab a drink. The Lounge at No Vacancy now offers both curated wine, beer and specialty cocktails to the public on select nights, as well as a peek into one of the town's boutique hotels.
No Vacancy is an eight-room guesthouse located on the corner of 18th and Wyandotte streets in the Crossroads Arts District. Each room is differently furnished, and a shared, second-floor courtyard space makes No Vacancy a popular spot for group getaways or pre-wedding events. However, in opening The Lounge at No Vacancy to the public from Tuesday through Thursday, owner Spencer Sight hopes to start spreading the word to Kansas City locals.
Sight’s held onto a liquor license for quite some time, but he was searching for the right partners to help him open a space that fit No Vacancy's vibe. He found those partners in Hilary Rambeau and Austin Goldberg.
“It's usually one of them who you'll see behind the bar,” Sight says.

Sight's goal with The Lounge at No Vacancy was to create a relaxed atmosphere to stop in for drinks on a weeknight visit to the Crossroads Arts District. Sight and his partners are starting slow with a thoughtful selection of natural wines, craft beers and and a rotating house cocktail. Though there's no food on the menu currently, Sight says the team is discussing the idea of adding some local cheese, bread and charcuterie options to offer guests while they sip and socialize.
One of Sight’s favorite aspects of the new lounge space is that it adds unique wrinkles to the guesthouse feel of No Vacancy. Immediately after checking into their room, guests can walk down the hall and be greeted by what Sight calls a dose of local culture and characters.
“It's proven to be a really nice amenity for guests who have just arrived,” he says.
As for future plans, Sight plans on keeping things at The Lounge at No Vacancy pretty low-key.
“It’s a peaceful place of accommodation first and foremost,” he says.
But don't worry – he still has plenty of fun events on deck. Wine and mezcal tastings, vinyl nights, a robe and waffle brunch, Mariachi music nights and many other plans are in the works. He encourages people to follow No Vacancy on Instagram to stay up to date on the latest happenings.
The Lounge at No Vacancy is open to the public Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 10pm. Visitors to the lounge should enter through the “Guest Entrance” door in the alley behind Birdie's Lingerie.
