This October, Trek to Kansas City, Kansas, For the Taco Trail

The KCK Taco Trail sounds like a dream come true for taco-lovers. The Kansas City area is well-known as a starting point for the historic Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails leading westward and now, the area also boasts its own Taco Trail that officially launches on Thu., Oct. 1. Taco fans near and far can visit nearly 50 taco restaurants throughout Kansas City, Kansas, on the trail.

Supported by The Kansas City Kansas Convention and Visitors Bureau, the mapped-out trail offers an organized way for diners to seek out numerous taquerias and explore the community-based food culture of the city’s neighborhoods. Locals and out-of-town visitors alike can visit the KCK Taco Trail website starting Oct. 1 to sign up for a free Taco Trail pass, then visit restaurants, check in, and get the chance to win prizes through Oct. 31, 2021.

  • Check into five restaurants to receive a KCK Taco Trail decal
  • Check into 15 restaurants to receive Spicin Foods taco sauce
  • Check into 30 restaurants to receive a KCK Taco Trail t-shirt.
  • Check into all 47 restaurants to receive a KCK Taco Trail Championship Flag and have your name included on the Taco Trail Wall of Fame.

The KCK Taco Trail’s debut arrives just in time to also celebrate National Taco Day on Sun., Oct. 4. Four restaurants in Kansas City, Kansas, will give away free tacos at four different trail stops. Starting at 11am on National Taco Day, the first 100 people at each of the four participating restaurants will receive a voucher for one free taco to redeem during that restaurant's operating hours on Sun., Oct. 4, only.

On National Taco Day, try an al pastor street taco at El Camino Real (903 N. 7th St. Trfy, Kansas City, Kansas), a birria taco at El Menudazo (904 N. 18 St., Kansas City, Kansas), a carne asada taco at El Torito Supermart, 1409 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas) and a pollo taco at Don Antonio (7510 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas).
