Local James Beard Award semifinalists will have to wait a little longer to learn if they have been named a finalist in their category.
The James Beard Foundation announced Monday via email that the James Beard Awards Nominee Announcement, originally scheduled for Wed., March 25, will be postponed until further notice because of the outbreak of the coronavirus across the United States.
The annual award ceremonies will also be postponed, which was announced last week. No rescheduled dates have been set yet, but they will be announced on the James Beard Foundation website and social media accounts.
This year, several chefs and restaurants were named as semifinalists across Missouri. In the St. Louis area, nominees include Michael Gallina of Vicia, Lona Luo of Lona's Lil Eats, Jesse Mendica of Olive + Oak, Loryn Nalic of Balkan Treat Box, Nathaniel Reid of Nathaniel Reid Bakery, Indo and Mai Lee.
In the Kansas City area, nominees include include Michael Corvino from Corvino Supper Club and Tasting Room, Linda Duerr from The Restaurant at 1900, Kansas, Nick Goellner from The Antler Room, Taylor Petrehn of 1900 Barker and Vaughn Good of Fox & Pearl. Scratch Brewing in Ava, Illinois, was also nominated.
