Anyone who has been to Q39 can attest that its deserved popularity comes at a price – on occasion, the wait time can be interminable, and there is very little space for unseated guests to wait. Owner Ron Magee and restaurant management have long been aware of the issue and have endeavored to find a solution. Ultimately, Magee was able to lease the space next door to Q39, formerly a nail salon, and expand his restaurant to accommodate more guests.
At last, the restaurant has completed phase one of its planned expansion. This week, Magee opened the new room on the west side of the restaurant, which features 52 seats as well as a full bar. The room can be used for private events (there is a sliding barn door that can separate the space), but when it is not booked, the bar can accommodate waiting guests and diners can utilize its available tables. The full menu as well as Jenn Tosatto’s custom cocktail menu are available in the new space. The new bar also features a new beer tap that pours beer at 33 degrees.

Phase two of the expansion – to create a large patio on the south side of the restaurant adjacent to the new indoor dining space – is also underway and should be open by spring. An additional 48 seats will be available once this expansion is complete. All told, by spring the restaurant will be able to accommodate 110 more guests at a time when the patio is in use. While Q39’s barbecue is worth waiting for, a reduced wait time is most welcome news.
Q39 is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 11pm and Sunday from 11am to 9pm.
