Minglewood Chicken Fried Steak

Neal's take on the chicken fried steak features tomato, romaine, housemade pickle and black pepper aïoli on a sesame seed bun.

It's almost impossible to choose what you're going to eat when you walk into Strang Hall. It's hard enough to pick a concept, but then you have to narrow down what you want on each individual menu. When it comes to Minglewood, one of the newest food hall tenants, there's no shortage of tasty Midwestern classics, but we can't get enough of the chicken-fried steak sandwich.

Chef Eli Neal takes a massive chicken-fried steak and serves it on a a sesame seed bun with tomato, romaine lettuce, housemade pickle and a black pepper aïoli. This iteration will probably be a little different than how your grandma used to make it, but it promises big flavors that will remind you of home. 

Looking for something comforting but not fried? In sandwich form, Neal also offers meatloaf on grilled sourdough and a barbecue mushroom option that's completely vegan. His plates, a Yankee pot roast and a pork chop inspired by an Old Fashioned, also add modern touches to homestyle dishes. 

Minglewood is offering both carryout and limited dine-in service at Strang Hall.
