Char Bar Smoked Meats & Amusements

From the creative minds of Beer KC partners Mark Kelpe and James Westphal (who own McCoy’s Public House, Beer Kitchen and The Foundry) comes Char Bar Smoked Meats & Amusements. This homage to the southern smokehouse opened in 2014 in Westport featuring barbecue inspired by the sauces and techniques of local barbecue competitor Mitch Benjamin, a.k.a. “Meat Mitch.” The food at Char Bar is almost as fun as the yard games in the 10,000-square foot beer garden. The restaurant offers a diverse menu where carnivores, herbivores and locavores can all equally feel the love. Executive chef Jeremy Tawney delivers the meat-centric Holy Trinity platter featuring ribs, brisket and burnt ends, with the same passion as the delicious Jacknife Sandwich featuring smoked jackfruit topped with Provolone, avocado and jalapeño straws on a soft bun.
